Why Dhol?

A Dhol is a traditional double-headed drum heard for centuries across the Indian subcontinent. It can vary in size, from the powerful bass of a typical Punjabi Dhol, to smaller and lighter-sounding examples from as far afield as Armenia. Wherever you hear it, the Dhol is the rhythm of celebration, of weddings and feasts.
This is where Chef Abdul has drawn his inspiration. The celebrations of his upbringing, where the rhythm of the Dhol, the warmth of family, and the richness of Indian spices came together. Now he brings those memories to life through food here in Southampton.
